How to completely change your Dining Room for a updated or different look. First access your current room. Here’s some pictures of my current dining room. There’s actually not a lot wrong with it, in fact this sunny shade of deep yellow or gold is quite in right now. Its also a great colour for Nova Scotia weather here on the East coast. It’s been the same for 10 years now and it needs a change. My friends make fun of me because every time they come over the house looks different. Paintings get switches around, furniture gets moved lol… why not change can be good for a room. Follow me along as I transform this room with small changes but with big impact. Changes you can do at home too with following some simple rules.

When we renovated the kitchen the dining room just doesn’t seem to fit anymore. There will be a lot of elements that stay the same but then there are some elements that need a lift. One thing that will change is a new addition of a buffet to add some more storage. If you read this blog then you know the 3R stands for ‘reuse, reinvent and recycle’ or maybe you didn’t know that’s what the 3R stands for but there you go now you know lol. So in my usual take on things I went to my favourite second hand shop and scouted out these three potential pieces to add to the dining room.

Things your want to look for in a secondhand piece.
Is it well made?
Do the drawers need work or do they slide out without a lot of effort?
Do the dimensions work in your space? Take measurements and make sure it’s the right size.
How much work will it take to bring the piece back to life?
Are the lines right, for the look your going for?
Above all, do you like the piece?
