“The Barn” Trash to treasure story of two doors & a window
I was so happy to get rid of the old crapy broken garage door. My original idea was to have two french doors placed in the large opening but that proved not to be the solution that would finally come about. It was not being able to find some and I needed to keep the budget down so when these two doors came to me free of charge. Let me back up, Johnny the concrete guy told me about some clients that had two doors that they were getting rid of and I should call them. I guess I did, really nice couple renovating their basement and didn’t need the doors anymore. When I went and saw them I thought perfect, they will fit just fine and of course the price was right ‘FREE’. So then it was just a matter of playing with both doors and seeing which one worked best where. There was also this old diamond shaped framed window that I’ve had for ages and I really wanted to incorporate it into the studio somehow. As you can see; me trying many different locations to see what worked best …. I’m a very visual person lol I have to see it from all sides so that’s what I did. Hmm must bee the libra in me.
One of the doors had the little arc window at the top and the other door had the large square at the top. I picked the one with the large square to be the front door as it would let in more light and you would also be able to see people coming up the driveway. As far as the old window I wasn’t quite feeling it so in the end I came up with a better solution for that old frame ….
In the end I covered the rest of the opening with straight boards to match the exterior of the barn. Inside would provide lots of hanging space for pictures or as a drop back. What do you think did I make the right choice? Of course it looks much better painted the same white as the interior.
Sneak Peak … doors painted and back wall finished!! Yes the doors are a different colour all by design….
