{BOOK INSPIRATION} A ROOM OF HER OWN by Chris Casson Madden

Long weekends can conjure up all sorts of images for a lot of people and weather your dreaming of relaxing by the water, hanging out with friends eating, having bevies, listening to music at the bungalow or cottage; it’s about practising the beautiful art of relaxing!   That extra long weekend to chill, rejuvenate your spirit and forget about the daily hustle and reconnect with who and what is important in your life. I hope you find time this weekend to connect, reconnect with souls that make you feel loved and cherished.  Sit and be still so you can contemplate your next steps.  Whatever that looks like for you. Often with all the outside noise we can’t hear our own thoughts, so creating a space that allows us to do that with objects and mementoes that have meaning for us helps to make you feel good   Sometimes we have to force ourselves to shut out the outside world, turn off the devices and be present.  It’s finding a spot that will let us stop for a moment or two, listen to our intuition and take the time to ponder our wants and needs.  Especially as women we are often care takers for many and  it’s important to remember that you matter too and self care is just a vital to your overall health as it as nourishing for your soul.   Often when I get a chance to sit and go through my collection of design books that inspire me to have my own little sanctuary I go through the pages of Chris Casson Madden’s book A ROOM OF HER OWN’.  Published back in 1997 but still evokes the response of wanting to create our own spaces to get away.

Here’s a inspiring delight of personal spaces from the book that evoke that feeling of calm, empowering spaces that are as individual as the owners who created them.
